Your Data: The "Duke" Standard

At Data With Duke, we talk about data all day. We know its power, its pitfalls, and its price. Most "Privacy Policies" are written by lawyers to protect corporations; this one is written by a data person to protect you.

In short: We aren't here to harvest your digital soul. We're here to help you understand data, not become a victim of its misuse. Below is exactly what happens when you interact with this site.

The "Non-Negotiable" List

"If you can't protect it, don't collect it."
  • We do not sell your data. Not to brokers, not to advertisers, not to AI training labs.
  • We do not use creepy trackers. No "fingerprinting," no cross-site stalking, and no invasive behavioral modeling.
  • We don't feed your secrets to the machine. As mentioned in our AI Transparency Policy, we do not feed user-identifiable data into LLMs.

What We Actually Collect (The "Essential" Data)

To keep the lights on and the charts rendering correctly, we collect a minimal amount of information:

  • Anonymized Analytics: We see that "Someone from London" visited the site, but we don't know it was you. We use this to see which podcast episodes are hits and which are misses.
  • Newsletter Info: If you choose to subscribe to the Duke Dispatch, we obviously need your email. We store this securely and only use it to send you the content you asked for.
  • CMS Interactions: If you are an authorized editor (hi, Duke!), the CMS uses cookies to keep you logged in.

Third-Party "Handshakes"

We try to keep our ecosystem clean, but we do use a few trusted partners to deliver content:

  • YouTube: Our podcast videos are embedded from YouTube. They have their own data rules (which are significantly more complex than ours), so checking your Google privacy settings is always a smart move.
  • Hosting: This site is served via modern, secure hosting providers. They see your IP address to deliver the files to your browser, but they don't keep it in a "Duke's Visitors" database.

Your Rights (The "Ownership" Bit)

Because we believe in taking ownership of data, we fully support your rights under GDPR, CCPA, and general common sense:

"You have the right to know what we have, the right to fix it, and the right to tell us to delete it all."

If you've signed up for our newsletter and want out, just hit unsubscribe. If you want to know what data we have associated with your email, just ask. We'll be honest, though: it's probably just your email and a timestamp.

Changes to this Policy

The digital world moves fast. If we ever change how we handle data (for example, if we start a community forum or a member's portal), we will update this page immediately and let our subscribers know.
